A housing is selected by the lamp it houses and construction framing considerations.
A recessed insulated housing for new construction is mounted into the ceiling joists
and is rated to have insulation come into direct contact with it.

The trim is selected to fit the housing and send the light where it is needed.
The trim is installed into the housing after the new ceiling is painted.
A down light trim with an incandescent or compact fluorescent lamp
